Tendring District Council celebrates over 20 years of Safer Parking accreditation

Celebrating more than two decades of commitment to safer, cleaner and well-maintained car parks through a long-standing partnership with Safer Parking, Tendring District Council recognises the important role that welcoming car parks play for residents, visitors as well as the local tourism economy. Throughout the years, the council has continued to invest in its car parks, making annual improvements to their appearance, condition and overall environment.

Mick Simson, Civil Enforcement Manager at Tendring District Council, said:

“Tendring has been behind the Park Mark scheme for over 20 years now. We have been keen to have our car parks highlighted for tourism and at a local level and are proud of the achievements we have made over the years to make these safe and clean.

“We take pride in our appearance and locality for use and make improvements to these areas on an annual basis.”

As the Park Mark scheme has evolved into the Safer Parking Police Crime Prevention Initiative awards, Tendring has maintained its commitment to achieving the standards required to deliver safer parking facilities.

“We have had Naomi guide us through the recent changes from Park Mark to the Safer Parking Police Crime Prevention Initiative awards. She has been more than helpful in gaining us recognition for these.

“We look forward to working closely with Naomi and Angie, Essex Designing Out Crime Officer, throughout 2026/27 to achieve this.”

The continued accreditation demonstrates Tendring District Council’s ongoing commitment to providing car parks that are safe, clean and welcoming, while working closely with Safer Parking and local Designing Out Crime colleagues to maintain and improve standards.
