Frequently Asked Questions

Why did the scheme name change from Park Mark to Safer Parking?

The rebranding to Safer Parking was part of a strategic move to unify all police-backed prevention initiatives under Police Crime Prevention Initiatives (Police CPI). The new name more clearly communicates the primary mission of the scheme.

Who are Police CPI?

Police CPI is a self-funded, not-for-profit organisation that works on behalf of UK policing. It is a major driving force for collaboration among organisations aiming to reduce crime. Part of the National Police Chiefs’ Council Prevention Coordination Committee, senior police officers from across the UK control and direct the work Police CPI carries out on behalf of the Police Service. Police CPI’s extensive portfolio includes a variety of crime prevention initiatives.

What are the new award names?

All existing awards have been refreshed under the Safer Parking umbrella:

  • Park Mark is now Safer Parking
  • Park Mark Plus is now Safer Parking Plus
  • Park Access / EV is now Safer Parking Accessible / EV
  • Park Mark Freight is now Safer Parking Freight
  • Approved Meet and Greet is currently undergoing a transition and will shortly become the Safer Parking Meet and Greet
Will my current point of contact change?

No. To ensure continuity, the British Parking Association staff members who deliver the initiative have transferred to Police CPI. You will continue to work with the same Area Managers and Police Designing Out Crime Officers you have always dealt with.

Do I need to do anything differently for my next audit?

No action is required from you. Your audit schedule remains exactly the same, and the high standards required to achieve the award have not changed.

When should I replace my existing Park Mark signage?

There is no immediate requirement to replace your physical signage. Existing Park Mark branding remains valid during a transition period. We recommend updating to the new Safer Parking branding during your next scheduled maintenance or planned signage refresh to manage costs effectively.

How do I get the new Safer Parking stickers?

New award stickers will be automatically provided to you by your Area Manager upon the successful renewal of your facility’s award following your next audit.

Can I produce my own signage with the new logos?

Yes. Should you wish to produce your own signage please contact your Area Manager, who will be able to provide you with the relevant new digital brand assets and award logos. This will allow you to incorporate the new branding into your own signage and marketing materials.
